Bala Chitto Farm is the place to find the best ALL- NATURAL products!
Michael and I met in 1988, while serving in the Army National Guard. We were both students at LSU. Geaux, Tigers!
Michael graduated from LSU, with an Accounting Degree, while I graduated with my Nursing Degree at Our Lady of the Lake College of Nursing. We were married in 1991, and started our family in 1995, raising 3 sons. We purchased a small 40-acre farm in 1998, mostly as a weekend getaway.
We were living in Baton Rouge when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005. It was at this time we decided we were tired of the rat race and hustle & bustle. We made the decision to move to our farm, permanently. So, we built a 2000 sq ft barn, bought an RV, and lived in the RV inside the barn, with all 3 of our boys, for an entire year, while our house was being built.
So, our homesteading adventure began, with our goal of becoming more self-reliant. We decided to homeschool the boys. We got rid of TV. We raised a few meat rabbits, grew a vegetable garden, planted some fruit trees, and here we are, over 20 years later, living our dream!
Our passion for a healthier lifestyle intensified a few years ago when we started to eliminate all the preservatives in our food and hygiene products. Now we have chickens, goats, rabbits, honeybees, and coming soon - a dairy cow! We want to inspire people to take the chance! Anyone can begin their homesteading journey by starting small!
